Faithfulness: The Key to Greater

Updated: Jun 7, 2022

There is something that I always keep in the forefront of my mind: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much..." (Luke 16:10, NIV). Mother Theresa put it this way, "Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies". This is applicable in an array of areas. Faithfulness is a character trait necessary for handling greater matters.

Many entrepreneurs have dreamt of growing much larger. They dream of being a major competitor and/or expert in their particular industry but to see greater things manifest you have to be diligent over what you have responsibility for. And if you are not, why would you expect that you would see the manifestation of the greater you desire?

It takes a lot of discipline to be an entrepreneur. I often say, its not for the fainthearted. It is very rewarding, but rewards come as a result of discipline. There are so many things in my own life I want to see. In terms of my business, I truly want to help people be successful in their endeavors and the work I have put into growing my business I am actually seeing the manifestation of. I am gaining momentum. Its both crazy to imagine and exciting to see. If I continue in being faithful, I know the momentum I have gained will catapult me to where I am supposed to be.

Personally, however, it's a different story. I am experiencing negative results in the area of my health because I have been consistent at doing the wrong things. I would like to be healthy. The question I have to ask myself is what it will take for me to realize and/or obtain that in my life? The answer is very simple. Exercise and eating right. Such simple things have proven difficult for me to implement seeing as I have developed such unhealthy habits. But as difficult as it may be right now, if I develop a plan and stick to it, become committed to the plan, and implement the things that will get me to where I would like be, then I will see results; just like I have in my business. If I choose not to, then I won't see results...or my results may come adversely to my desire. The point is that I have to do something. And I can't just do it once. I have to do it consistently.

Faithfulness Requires Discipline

So how do I develop faithfulness? Become disciplined. Discipline is the ability to do something consistently. To develop consistency you have to be consistent. I am laughing so hard right now! I pray for discipline all the time, but God tells me often to "get up and do what I told you to do yesterday." You don't develop consistency unless you do something consistently! You not only have to start somewhere, you have to start!

I heard it said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. That means you have to do the same thing for 21 days straight in order for it to become a part of your daily life. You have to start. For some, you may be on day one. For others, it may be day ten. But if you want to see results and train yourself to be consistent, you just have to start...and then keep it going.

Evaluate Your Cir

Add yourself these questions:

1. What have you been struggling to consistently do that you need to do?

2. What issues is the lack of discipline creating in your life?

3. Would you trust yourself with your vision if you were someone else?

4. Can God trust you with greater things? Can anyone? Can you trust yourself?

If I can't handle the little things, how can I expect that someone will trust me with much greater things? The truth is, without discipline you won't be prepared to handle the greater. That's real!

Discipline Yields Results

The one thing I know about consistency is that it yields results. Eat right consistently and watch your body transform. Exercise consistently and watch your body transform. Be consistent at ANYTHING and watch transformation happen in that area. The Rock said, "We do today what they won’t, so tomorrow we can accomplish what they can’t." It matters and it makes a difference.

Today, I challenge myself in this...and I invite you to join me. Decide that you will commit to being consistent in the areas where you have not been consistent. If there is something great you expect, understand what you have to do to get there, and then commit to actually doing it. I refuse to let the lack of discipline keep me from what I truly desire.
