Imagine This!
One of thew things I encounter a lot from business owners is the scarcity mindset. They put themselves in a box because of their present circumstances. They don't have enough money to finance their vision. They don't know how it is going to get done. They limit themselves, even if they have a big idea with exponential potential, the limitations of their present reality shrinks their expectation. But what if we could see it differently?
Consider a seed. Every seed starts small. But that seed contains the possibility of greater things. In the seed itself lies the potential of a tree that can grow so large that it provides food, shade, refuge, and beauty to the world. The greatest example I can give is the mustard seed. They are only about 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter. They are considered the smallest seed in the plant kingdom but can grow to be about 20 to 30 feet high and can spread as wide as it is tall, depending on the climatic conditions and cultivation of the seed. What potential for growth is contained in something so small.

As entrepreneurs, I believe that our purpose functions the same way. You have an idea that you are so passionate about that you start a business. The things is, as you begin to plant your idea into the ground, you may not necessarily see it grow right away. Seeds grow down first. The roots that seeds produce go out in search of the nourishment they need to solidify that is incubating within. Just because you aren't seeing something happen on the surface doesn't mean nothing is happening.
There is so much potential in us to be great. And our purpose does have the ability to grow so large that people can eat from our tree. But it starts as an idea in our hearts first, which has to be birthed out, cultivated, and protected before you will ever see the greater manifestation of it. That requires planting yourself in the right environment, because the climatic conditions affect how large you grow. I can recall sharing visions and dreams of the things that were in my heart with the wrong people. They have a tendency to extinguish the fire within. So I stopped doing that! I learned that there are people in my life that God has planted to ignite the passion he gave me. It matters.
Matthew 17:20 (NLT) says, "...If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed...nothing would be impossible." The point is that we so often underestimate the power of expectation. Don't despise small beginnings but expect great things. Just because it's small now doesn't mean that's what it is purposed to be or how it is purposed to stay. In fact, if you have purpose, I am sure that there is potential for that which is in you to grow beyond your wildest imagination. You just have to protect yourself from conditions that can prevent that seed from going into a magnificent tree...to include your own mindset and pre-conceived ideas.
